SCLT’s Urban Agriculture Kick-Off – lovingly called UAKO by those in the know – has been a staple of the urban agriculture scene in Providence for years. In 2025, we welcome urban farmers, backyard gardeners, and regenerative agriculture enthusiasts to SCLT’s headquarters and Healthy Food Hub to honor the coming season. This event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. There will be a Black Food Liberation Workshop at 11 a.m., a Spring Garden Readiness Workshop at 12 p.m., and seed giveaways from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees may also sign up for annual SCLT membership, which includes 50 gallons of organic compost (a $110 value). This is a BYOB event: bring your own bucket. The compost pickup area will be at 10 Linden St., directly adjacent to SCLT headquarters. Volunteers will be available to help with loading compost.
