The Newport Tree Conservancy’s living collections manager will lead the group for a loop around the park, remarking on a number of interesting species that reside in the park, including stewartia, sassafras, Kentucky coffeetree and Japanese scholar tree. Aquidneck Park is home to 31 beech tree individuals, representing 10 unique taxa. These interesting varieties will be discussed, and there will be updates on beech disease issues and public beech tree care in Newport. Dress appropriately for summer walk. Water is recommended.
