SCLT’s Urban Agriculture Kick-Off – lovingly called UAKO by those in the know – has been a staple of the urban agriculture scene in Providence for years. In 2025, we welcome urban farmers, backyard gardeners, and regenerative agriculture enthusiasts to the Fox Point Community Garden to honor the coming season. This event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. There will be an Ask the Gardening Experts workshop at 11 a.m., a Dividing Perennials workshop at 12 p.m., and seed giveaways from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees may also sign up for annual SCLT membership, which includes 50 gallons of organic compost (a $110 value). This is a BYOB event: bring your own bucket. The compost pickup area will be 256 Power St., in the parking lot of the Fox Point Community Garden. Volunteers will be available to help with loading compost.
