Silvo-Pasturing Livestock at Wild Harmony Farm

The Rhode Island Forest Conservator’s Organization (RIFCO) will conduct its annual spring program at Wild Harmony Farm. Farm operator Ben Coerper has been using advanced silvo-pasturing techniques for his grass-fed livestock for several years on his farm. Silvo-pasturing is an agro-forestry technique that allows for the retention of mature trees while raising livestock. Coerper and forest manager Marc Tremblay will lead a guided walk of the property. The walk will also include the viewing of other forest management practices on the larger WeeHoose Farm. Some of those practices are partially funded by the USDA-NRCS’ EQIP Program. The walk will also include tree identification, deer-browse impacts, forest ecology, and other woodlot management topics. This walk is free and open to the public.
