Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District (ERICD) is seeking organizations in urban, suburban, or rural areas to install community gardens or high tunnels and maintain them for the duration of the project. This project is funded by an agreement between the RI State Conservation Committee (RISCC) and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA NRCS). The deadline for this year’s People’s Garden applications is April 1, 2024. Proposals from new applicants will be evaluated on a first come-first served basis, and ERICD is seeking to fund projects between $3,000-$10,000 per project. An extension for this round of funding has been granted and approved by the USDA NRCS, allowing this year’s awardees to have until September 15th, 2025 to complete their People’s Garden Projects.
