SUMMARY:How Science\, Fieldwork\, and Time Reshape Our Understanding of New England’s Flora
DESCRIPTION:Arthur Haines\, senior botanist of Native Plant Trust and author of “Flora Novae Angliae\,” will speak at the Rhode Island Native Plant Society annual meeting. First published in 2011\, “Flora Novae Angliae” provided a modern framework for plant taxonomy and conservation in New England. Now\, 15 years later\, the second edition of this manual will again bring a summary of new information related to New England’s ferns\, trees\, shrubs\, and flowering plants. This talk will highlight key taxonomic updates and discuss their conservation implications\, with particular emphasis on Rhode Island. Schedule: Refreshments and fellowship from 1-1:30\, followed by a short business meeting and the featured talk. The public is welcome to join us for the full program or arrive later for the talk.
