Start your day with coffee and our naturalists for a themed walk (plants\, birds\, marine life) based on participants’ interests and learn about the natural history of Napatree Conservation Area. Open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This program is designed to last 90 minutes so participants can use the free parking along Bay Street. SUMMARY:Styrofoam Recycling Day
DESCRIPTION:Hold the foam: The Little Compton Garden Club is hosting a Styrofoam Recycling Day at St. Andrew’s Church at 182 Willow Ave. in Little Compton. Garden club members will be on hand to accept your Styrofoam and other recyclables. Start saving blocks of hard\, white Styrofoam (no labels or tape) used for protective packing\, including computers\, TVs\, other electronics\, and breakable items. We will also accept Styrofoam coolers and ice chests\, rinsed Styrofoam coffee cups\, to-go food containers\, meat trays\, egg cartons\, and other Styrofoam products with the #6 recycling triangle. Packing peanuts or spongy foam that doesn’t snap when you try to break it can not be accepted. This event is part of the Little Compton Garden Club’s efforts to repurpose and keep undesirable items out of the landfill. The\nStyrofoam will be delivered to Insulation Technology in Bridgewater\, Mass.\, where it is recycled into insulation.

Every month features a new theme and a new Westerly Land Trust property\, giving young explorers the chance to get to know their local environment. January’s theme is Feathered Friends and will be held at Grills Preserve. Through playful discovery\, gentle guidance\, and curiosity-driven exploration\, attendees will search for feathers\, tracks\, nests\, and other clues that reveal which birds call our preserve home.
