SUMMARY:Hit the Accelerator: The Many Benefits of Electric Vehicles
DESCRIPTION:Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts and Rhode Island\, and there are more electric vehicle (EV) models than ever before. Join this webinar to learn why EVs are critical to meeting our state’s greenhouse gas reduction requirements. Topics to be covered include: How EVs reduce air pollution and improve public health\, particularly greenhouse gas emissions; why our states’ climate plans hinge on greater EV adoption; how EVs are good for our economy and for balancing the electricity grid; what our states’ climate plans say about EVs and current policy efforts; progress to date; and what we see looking forward. This webinar is intended for anyone who wants to advocate for smart EV policies or stay in the know about how EVs fit into our climate plans.

SUMMARY:Reintroducing the American Chestnut - One Seed at a Time
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Burrillville Land Trust as we plant this year’s American Chestnut seeds taken from a hyper-virulent American chestnut tree. The tree has been tolerant of a highly aggressive or virulent form of the Cryphonectria parasitica fungus for decades. The tree is covered with rapid and severe cankers that should lead to the tree’s death. But the tree has survived. Come help plant one or two of those seeds and sign up to take one of the seedlings home with you near the end of the Burrillville Farmers’ Market in September or early October when the seedlings are about a foot tall.

We will also have an art exhibit of the artwork from elementary children in our Trash to Treasures program. We have gloves and bags but feel free to bring your own as we do not know how many volunteers will show up. Snacks will be provided. Rain date is April 20.
