SUMMARY:Urban Wildlife Walks
DESCRIPTION:Greg Gerritt will lead three walks this spring\, all focused on urban wild animals in Providence. All of the walks are free of charge and will go from 9-10:30 a.m. The May 10 and June 6 walks will be at Blackstone Park and along the Seekonk River. Participants should meet at the Blackstone Park kiosk near the corner of Parkside and East Orchard at 9 a.m. The May 23 walk\, as part of Cemetery Month\, will focus on urban wildlife in the North Burial Ground. Participants should meet at 9 a.m. at Ridgeside Lake in the North Burial Ground. Registration for the walks are not required\, but it helps for planning purposes.

SUMMARY:Natural History Walk at Napatree
DESCRIPTION:Join The Watch Hill Conservancy for a free naturalist-guided walk to learn about the Napatree Point Conservation Area. This walk is open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This program is designed to last 90 minutes so participants can use the free parking along Bay Street. Registration is required. Light rain will not cancel these events\, but a downpour will.

DESCRIPTION:This guided hike is part of the Writing About Place collaborative series\, connecting landscape\, poetry\, and close observation on conserved land. Hosted by the Charlestown Land Trust\, this program includes stops at two Poetry of the Wild installations along the trail at Mill Pond Preserve\, featuring poetry by Susan Killingbeck. Along the way\, participants will be invited to pause and write\, while also learning more about the Charlestown Land Trust\, which protects nearly 700 acres of ecological\, historic\, scenic\, agricultural\, and educational significance in Charlestown.

SUMMARY:Rhode Island Forest Conservator’s Organization Spring Program
DESCRIPTION:The Rhode Island Forest Conservator’s Organization (RIFCO) will conduct its annual spring program with a guided walk in the Great Swamp Management Area. Participants will view of the state’s habitat manipulation projects to benefit bird species and the New England cottontail\, including a recent cut that has just been completed. Gather at the trailhead parking area located beyond the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Fish & Wildlife office at 277 Great Neck Rd. in South Kingstown\, R.I.
