SUMMARY:Natural History Walk
DESCRIPTION:Start the day with coffee and a nature walk with the Watch Hill Conservancy for a themed walk (plants\, birds\, marine life) based on participants’ interests and enjoy an excellent opportunity to learn about the natural history of Napatree Conservation Area. Open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This program is designed to last 90 minutes so participants can use the free parking along Bay Street. Registration is required. Light rain will not cancel these events\, but a downpour will.

SUMMARY:RI Distinguished Naturalist & Founders' Award Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:In November of each year\, the RI Natural History Survey acknowledges and celebrates individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the understanding and appreciation of the natural world in Rhode Island\, and to the continuation and expansion of the survey’s work. The recipients of the 2025 Awards are: Matt “Twig” Largess (arborist and voice of the forest)\, receiving the Founders’ Award for Exceptional Service; Kim Gaffett (naturalist\, educator\, master bird bander) receiving the RI Distinguished Naturalist Award; and James Franklin Collins (Brown U. botany faculty and researcher)\, receiving the posthumous RI Distinguished Naturalist Award.\nThe luncheon is pay what you can and requires a reservation.
