SUMMARY:Peace and Plenty Community Garden BioBlitz
DESCRIPTION:Scientists\, naturalists\, community members\, students\, and gardeners are invited to conduct a survey of the natural history of Peace and Plenty Community Garden at a summer BioBlitz. The garden will be in full summer mode\, which will ensure lots of interesting discoveries. Peace and Plenty Garden hosts 55 garden plots along with perennial food corridors\, a mulch corridor\, a compost row\, a meadow in the making\, and flower and pollinator islands. The garden is a haven for urban wildlife\, native plants and non-native that have both culinary and medical benefits.  A “Science Central” will be set up by colleagues at 15 Minute Field Trips. DESCRIPTION:In the swampy wilds of Rhode Island\, there be dragons. Join RIDEM Wildlife Outreach staff\, and special guests Virginia (Ginger) Brown and Nina Briggs\, on a summer “dragon hunt” in the Great Swamp. Ginger and Nina will be sharing their wealth of knowledge on R.I.’s dragonflies and damselflies\, as well as their experience collecting data to write and illustrate the recently published “Dragonflies and Damselflies of Rhode Island.” Be prepared to learn a lot and have fun at this free program. Space is limited and registration is required.
