SUMMARY:Spring Visitors Weekend at West Place Animal Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:Visitors to West Place Animal Sanctuary can meet Alfie the baby emu during Spring Visitors Weekend. It’s the sanctuary’s first public event of the year and the first opportunity to meet Alfie. He’s cute\, he’s hilarious\, and he won’t be a baby for much longer. The sanctuary is also unveiling a brand-new electric vehicle for special driving tours of the sanctuary\, which can accommodate five guests and makes the sanctuary fully accessible to those who cannot participate in a walking tour. And\, dedicated sanctuary volunteers will receive Presidential Volunteer Service Awards\, a national community service award issued through Points of Light and managed by AmeriCorps. There will also be a spring plant sale\, and interactive and educational guided tours every half hour. Advance registration is highly recommended.

SUMMARY:'Around Alone': The Story of Dodge Morgan's Sailing Vessel
DESCRIPTION:“Around Alone” tells the story of Dodge Morgan’s solo circumnavigation in his custom-built 60-foot sailing vessel American Promise. In 1985\, Morgan set out to sail alone nonstop around the world\, becoming the first American to do so. Filmed using automatic cameras mounted throughout the boat\, this documentary offers a rare look into the grit\, determination\, and profound connection between sailors and the sea. The boat is now owned and operated by the nonprofit Rozalia Project and will be anchored in Newport the weekend of the screening. Ticket sales will benefit the Rozalia Project.
