SUMMARY:'Ocean View' Student Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:About 300 Rhode Island students in kindergarten through 12th grade entered the third biennial “Ocean View” student art competition\, organized by the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO). All submissions will be displayed at the Art League RI gallery in Pawtucket from April 5-27. Three winners from each of the four age divisions will be announced at a ceremony at the gallery on April 17 at 3 p.m. Students were required to submit a statement of no more than 100 words on the theme\, “What does ‘The Ocean State’ mean to you?’” Their two-dimensional artwork was limited to 24 inches by 36 inches. Suggested art mediums included illustration\, painting\, mixed media and collage\, and photography. After April 27\, the 12 award-winning pieces of art will be showcased at GSO’s Ocean Science & Exploration Center.

SUMMARY:Earth Month Rain Barrel Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Order your rain barrel online and then pick up your barrel and installation materials at one of our four workshops. Barrels are $55 each and include the barrel and installation kit for you to take home and convert this container into any ally for a cleaner Narragansett Bay. Pickup dates and locations:  Barrington workshop: April 5\, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m\,\, 283 County Road\, Barrington; Middletown workshop: April 26\, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.\, 9 Berkeley Ave.\, Middletown; Bristol workshop: May 3\, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.\, 101 Asylum Road\, Bristol; Portsmouth workshop: May 17\, 12-2:30 p.m.\, Ragged Island Brewing Company\, Bristol Ferry Road\, Portsmouth. You will receive an unpainted barrel and installation kit that will connect to your downspout. Rain barrel prepping instructions are provided through a video and FAQ available on our website.
