Jane’s Walk: Reimagining the Heart of the City

Providence’s downtown boasts 54 acres of waterfront access from Waterplace Park to Point Street. This rich network of waterfront parks and walkways offers natural beauty and greenspace, areas for play, exercise and relaxation, facilities for education, and space for community events. Together, these parks form the center of downtown Providence, anchoring its community and economy. Take a walk through the spaces that make up the Downtown park network. From the pedestrian bridge to Waterplace Park, explore the potential of this loop of urban greenspace. What do your dream parks and public spaces look like? How could we better activate the heart of our downtown to enrich our lives and communities? Jane’s Walk is a global festival of walking conversations inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. These interactive walks are led by local residents and community activists who share stories and ask questions that get people thinking, talking, and connecting with each other. Jane’s Walks are free, and anyone can participate. Wear comfortable shoes, meet your walk leader in the designated meeting spot, and get ready for a lively discussion.
