Jane’s Walk Gateway to the Park and the Zoo

Some area folks have been visiting the Roger Williams Park Zoo for years via the usual route: They drive down Elmwood, enter a gated entrance and drive to the main parking lot. We invite you to approach the zoo in a new way. Take the RIPTA bus (R-Line is free) and meet at the new Roger Williams Park Gateway Center at 1197 Broad Street. We’ll enter the park on Hawthorne Street, and walk to the zoo entrance via the back parking lot. This walk is one mile. Jane’s Walk is a global festival of walking conversations inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. These interactive walks are led by local residents and community activists who share stories and ask questions that get people thinking, talking, and connecting with each other. Jane’s Walks are free, and anyone can participate. Wear comfortable shoes, meet your walk leader in the designated meeting spot, and get ready for a lively discussion.
