Climate Action Rhode Island’s (CARI) 2023 Community Meeting series kicks off with an event featuring climate scholar Alexander Gard-Murray. Building strong coalitions for climate action is hard. Even when policy creates economic benefits, the intended winners often sit on the sidelines. Experiences in Massachusetts, Washington, and West Virginia show the importance of creating winners, and making sure they know they’re going to win. Gard-Murray is a political economist studying climate change, the energy transition, and distributive justice. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the Climate Solutions Lab and the Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance at Brown University. This event will be in person and on Zoom. Please come in person if you can, but note that attendees will need to go down a flight of stairs.
