Looking to care for local trees this Earth Day? Join Newport Tree Conservancy in Miantonomi Park for the first Save the Seedlings event. Native seedlings in the Miantonomi woodland are often at risk of being out-competed by established invasive plants or inadvertently mowed over before they can grow. NTC staff has identified vulnerable seedlings and will dig them up and pot them, giving them a new chance at life. The seedlings will return to NTC’s Minnie Cushing Coleman Heritage Tree Nursery, where they will grow for future native tree planting programs. No prior experience is necessary. Gloves and tools are provided.
